FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions & Warranty Information

Q. Why should I buy a BioTrode™ Harness set?

A. Any Harness over 1 or 2 years old should be checked for conductivity of the Head Harness and Limb Straps as the technology of conductive rubber has greatly improved and as well as the overall engineering put into BioTrode™ Harness systems. Also check the condition of the Rubber. Any Rubber that is gummy feeling or hardened should probably be replaced. We back ours with a one year limited warranty.

Q. How should I handle my Head Harness?

A. You will receive your Head Harness folded in thirds with the 8 electrodes facing inwards to protect the BioTrode™ Rubber. The cable will be wrapped in a series of gentle 6” loops secured with a wire tie.

After use, clean the Head Harness and then should be folded upon itself with the 8 electrodes facing inwards and the cable wrapped in its natural coil. Prevent tugging, stepping on, cutting or crimping the cable. In the case of animals include the prevention of biting the cable.

For cleaning: Spray BioTrode™ Cleaner onto a clean, soft rag (do not spray directly onto the Harness) then wipe the strap length and then each of the 8 Rubber Electrodes. Clean cable as needed. You may also use warm soapy water but do not use abrasive pad or abrasive cleaning agents. Hint: If you won’t put it on your face – Don’t put it on your Harness.

Never unhook the Harness from the SCIO by pulling on the wires! Please take a firm hold of the connector and gently pull. We do not recommend screwing the connector into the SCIO as it is not necessary. Besides, you would want the cable to disconnect before pulling your SCIO onto the floor, which is one reason we developed the “Quick Release”.

Q. How should I handle my Limb Wires?

A. You will receive your limb wires neatly wrapped in a 6” coiled loop and fastened with a wire tie. If the silver magnetic clasps have a plastic protection wrap, remove it.

After use, Hold the silver connector and let the wires drop. Separate the red pair and the black pair before you coil the wires. The limb wires should be wrapped in a gentle coil, slightly twisting the wire as you loop them, in order for the wire to maintain its memory. Each wire is color coded and has one magnetic clasp. Prevent tugging, stepping on, cutting, bending, wadding or crimping the wires. In the case of animals include the prevention of biting the wires.

For cleaning: Spray BioTrode™ Cleaner onto a clean, soft rag, and gently pull wires through rag, being very careful not to tug on the ends. Wipe any grime from magnetic clasps and silver connector. You may also use warm soapy water but a do not use abrasive pad or abrasive cleaning agents. Hint: If you won’t put it on your face – Don’t put it on your Limb Wires.

Q. How should I handle my Limb Straps?

A. You will receive the 4 BioTrode™ Rubber Limb Straps in a coil. Release the top Velcro® end near the silver magnetic clasp. If the silver magnetic clasps have a plastic protection wrap, remove it. Each strap is attached on top of another so remove each one and attach to clients limbs with the Rubber side toward the skin.

After use, clean and then gently attach each strap on top of another just as you received it, and then roll back into a coil.

For cleaning: Lay Limb Straps flat, then Spray BioTrode™ Cleaner onto a clean, soft rag (do not spray directly onto the Straps). Wipe Rubber surface, magnetic clasps and then Velcro® surface if desired. You may also use warm soapy water but a do not use abrasive pad or abrasive cleaning agents. Hint: If you won’t put it on your face – Don’t put it on your Limb Straps.

Q. Some times it is a tight fit to get the Point Probe connector in and out of the Red Port?

A. Never pull on the wire! Firmly grasp the connector and push/pull from this position. It will connect with some patience.

Q. Are BioTrode™ Harness Sets and Accessories approved?

A. Yes. Professor Bill Nelson has approved BioTrode™ products.

About Us

It was in 2008 that we decided to build a better mousetrap, so to speak, for a Biofeedback Head & Limb Harness that would work better than the current one we had for use with our Biofeedback devices. Don is the engineer and the master mind who figured out a better material and construction. It is a better system than the conventional sets that came with the original device. The conductivity of the rubber electrodes is superlative in comparison, combined with the unique ability to unsnap the limb straps from the limb wires. Connecting with the device is most important.
